Introduction                    
Why do we have presentations?

1st Video Presentation  
All delegates will give a two minute (max) pre-prepared presentation. Playback and discussion.

Planning & Preparation
Structure – subject, objective, audience, timing.
Stages – introduction, main, close.
Presenter’s notes, visual aids.

Putting yourself across
The mechanics of speaking.  Body language.
Questions.  Nerves.

2nd Video Presentation
All delegates will give a five minute (max) presentation.
Assessment.

Please Note.  All delegates must come to the course prepared to
give a two minute, self-introduction presentation and
                        ideas for their 2nd five minute presentation.




Course Background


The objectives of the course are to:-

  • have delegates see themselves presenting (video)
  • avoid traps and pitfalls
  • give confidence by effective preparation of ideas and notes
  • appear professional when nervous
  • reduce the stress during a presentation

Seeing ourselves presenting.
Listening to and watching other presentations.
Giving and receiving constructive feedback in a safe environment.

Planning and Preparation

Tutor input.
Discussion

Structure of a presentation.
Planning for subject, objective, timing and audience. Setting the environment.
Three elements:- intro., main, close.
Three methods of producing effective material.
Making points in a presentation.
Use of notes. Do’s and don’ts of visual aids.

Putting yourself across

Tutor input.
Individual discussion.

Using the spoken word.
Accuracy, brevity and clarity.
Diction, pronunciation, enunciation, tone, delivery etc.
Non-verbal communication – body language, posture, expressions, gestures  etc. Coping with nerves.
Dealing with questions.
Using visualisation.
